Course Description:
Audiovisual Translation is an optional course for third-year English majors. This course addresses the growing demand for translators with skills in translating audiovisual texts such as TV shows and films. It covers a range of areas, including: subtitling, accessibility (subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing, audio description and live subtitling), multimedia localization, dubbing and voice-over for films. This course provides a theoretical framework for translators and researchers in the area of audiovisual translation as well as hands-on training with professional software and audiovisual material taken from different authentic contexts.
