Research Direction of Japanese Language and Literature Major (Major Code 050205)

01. Research on Japanese Linguistics

The research direction of Japanese linguistics adopts cutting-edge experimental research methods in the field of international linguistics, including behavioral experiment, eye movement experiment, EEG experiment, optical near-infrared imaging experiment, etc., to explore the cognitive processing problems of Japanese pronunciation, morphology, syntax, discourse, and pragmatics, and to explore the establishment of a language cognitive model for Chinese Japanese learners based on empirical data, serving Japanese language teaching and research in China.

02. Research on Japanese Culture and Society

The postgraduates will systematically learn and master the basic theories and research methods of Japanese social and cultural study, and be able to better grasp the cutting-edge theories and research status of Japanese social and cultural aspects. They will be proficient in using scientific methods to critically conduct research on Japanese social and cultural issues, and comparing them with relevant issues in China. Specifically, it involves the comparison of traditional Chinese and Japanese cultures, the history of cultural exchange between China and Japan, Japan’s education and society, and research on family changes in the context of Japan’s aging population.

03. Theory and Practice of Japanese-Chinese Translation

Under the overall requirement of “sharing China stories by good communication” and “spreading China’s voice effectively”, the postgraduates will analyze the commonalities and differences between Chinese and Japanese in terms of vocabulary, semantics, pragmatics, collocation, etc. Combined with relevant theories such as functional translation, semantic translation, and communicative translation, they will explore the establishment of translation theories with Chinese characteristics, and serve national strategic needs through Japanese-Chinese and Chinese-Japanese translation practices.
